How does this differ from an escape room?
An escape room has just one group of people participating whereas this event will have many people in the room at one time. We encourage people to work together! With an escape room, you often have to look for things and interact with the puzzles physically. With this event, the puzzles are clearly defined and are meant to be looked at, but not touched. Every participant will get a commemorative pen as well as a notebook to take notes with. All puzzles will be available to everyone at all times, but you need to solve the first round of puzzles to make sense of the second round, and you need to solve all of those to complete the final puzzle. Also, there is not a time limit on solving the puzzles other than the fact that we are only open for 8 hours.
How hard are the puzzles?
There are 9 puzzles total. We expect they will each take 10 to 20 minutes to work out on average. But you may use the internet, phone a friend, or we especially encourage you to collaborate with the other people there. This is as much a social event as an intellectual challenge.
What time should I get there?
We will open the doors at noon, but you don't have to arrive right away. We plan to be open until 8pm, so if you want to allow yourself enough time to finish, we recommend not coming any later than 5pm.
Will there be refreshments?
Yes, we will have a couple of varieties of hot soup available as well as some beverages. This is included in the price so feel free to relax and enjoy some while you ponder the puzzles.
What is the cost?
The cost is $20/person which includes the puzzle adventure, a pen, a notebook, clue buttons, and a special coin for all who finish, as well as soup and beverages.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
Space is limited and so the tickets will be as well. We encourage people to buy them in advance and if sold out, they will not be available at the door. But some may be available if we do not sell out in advance.
Is this suitable for kids?
The puzzles are mainly aimed at adults. Teenagers may be able to tackle some of them. Younger children will probably be bored.
Is the space handicapped accessible?
Yes. There is a ramp from the parking lot to the front door and the entire event takes place on the same floor with no steps. The puzzles will all be primarily visual however for anyone with a visual impairment.
The Four Winds Quest is a unique puzzling experience lasting two to three hours. Similar to an escape room, it is an indoor event where you must solve a series of puzzles to get to the end. But it is much more of a social experience! Rather than being locked alone in a room, it is more like being in a musuem gallery with other people where all of the art pieces are puzzles to decipher! Feel free to work collaboratively with the people around you. Maybe even form an impromptu team. Each of the four winds of Boreas' realm presents a puzzle to solve. When you do, it will lead you to another. Solve that and get a key to the final puzzle. If you get all four, and solve the final puzzle, you'll get a prize to commerorate the glorious occasion! And while you are there, pondering the puzzles, feel free to relax and enjoy some hot soup and a beverage while the gears turn in your head. It will be a great way to warm up before the big events of the evening.
